NORTH ADAMS MAYOR JOINS ANTI-STIGMA CAMPAIGN

North Adams Mayor Richard Alcombright became the first Massachusetts mayor to join CEOs Against Stigma, a campaign created by the state chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

“The fear of stigma by those affected can many times be eliminated by sharing with those who care and by seeking help,” Alcombright said in a statement.

Funded with a grant from the attorney general’s office, the campaign hopes to receive commitments from 250 CEOs.

Former Attorney General Martha Coakley spoke out about ending the stigma of mental illness, telling audiences about her brother’s suicide.
